The 36m Juliustrurm is a crenellated tower in the south-west corner of the Spandau Zitadelle, from where you can better appreciate the citadel's layout and also enjoy a view over the Havel and Spree rivers and to the Altstadt. From 1873 to 1919, Bismarck had the Reichskriegsschatz (literally 'imperial war treasure') stored here. This was an amount in gold equivalent to 120 million Reichsmark, which was a portion of the reparation payments collected from the French after the war of 1870-71.
